This 8 day small-group tour takes in some of Europe’s finest scenery, along Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, including Killarney National Park and the McGuillacuddy reeks, Ireland’s highest mountain range; the rugged coastline and stone walls of the Dingle peninsula; the Caha mountains of the Beara Peninsula; and the lush green fields of Inland counties.  

Experience some of Ireland’s most popular destinations including, Kilkenny Castle, the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands.

Enjoy fantastic activity options including hiking and cycling, kayaking, stand up paddle and surfing in the most scenic and breathtaking locations.

Discover Ireland’s historical treasures and learn about the rich history from the Neolithic period to the modern age. These include a visit to Cashel, Ross Castle, Ancient Neolithic stone forts and monuments, Celtic ring forts and burial tombs.

Day 1

Depart Dublin city on your small group tour and explore the Western edge of Wicklow Mountains National Park, the location of movies such as Braveheart and current series Vikings on route to the first stop in the Medieval city of Kilkenny where you can visit Kilkenny castle, the Medieval mile or simply stroll around the small side streets and alleyways of this charming city.

Marvel at the sight of the impressive rock of Cashel and learn about the history of this ancient seat of Kings. Your first overnight is in Kinsale a lively fishing village in Cork renowned for its world class local food scene.

Day 2 

Start the day with an early morning coastal walk and experience the Wild Atlantic Way. Explore the dramatic Caha mountains pass, the charming village of Kenmare and the Ring of Kerry on the spectacular route to Killarney National Park. Visit Torc Waterfall, Ross Castle and Muckross Abbey on a cycle trail inside the park. Learn about real life inside the castle walls and the heritage of the park. Stroll on Inch beach or try a surf session on the Dingle Peninsula to finish the day.

Day 3

Hike and explore Valentia Island with the stunning backdrop of the Skellig Islands a Unesco heritage site and the Dingle Pennisula. You have the option to take a boat to the Skellig Islands and experience the solitude of early Christian life. Visit Derrynane Strand and the home of Daniel O Connell ‘the liberator’ and important figure for Irish Independence. Finish up the day with a surf session or a refreshing swim on Inch beach along the route to Dingle where you can upack your bags for 2 nights.

Day 4

Discover Dingle bay by Kayak or take a guided hike up mount Brandon on the edge of Europe. Explore Slea head and the Dingle peninsula with its many ancient sites and stunning vistas. Finish up the day with a tour of the Dingle Distillery and experience the whiskey making process.

Dingle is one of Ireland’s liveliest towns with a great selection of pubs with live Irish music, great restaurants and awesome adventure activities. On this morning guests will have a choice of the activities including Dingle bay sea kayak tour, or a hike up Mount Brandon. It’s also possible to hire bikes and cycle your way around Slea head or just take in some shopping time around Dingle town. The weather and sea conditions may dictate which activity is best on the day. Your guide can take you to the top of Mount Brandon (953m) which gives stunning views of Brandon bay and Castlegregory. On a clear day you see all the way to Carrauntoohill (1,039m) Ireland’s highest mountain. We finish the day with a tasting session at the Dingle distillery.

Day 5

The tour departs Dingle travelling over the world renowned Conor’s pass on route to Tralee town. From here we make our way up the Wild Atlantic Way towards the Cliffs of Moher in county Clare, Ireland’s biggest tourist attraction outside of Dublin city and for good reason. We cross the mighty river Shannon by boat and travel the Wild Atlantic Way all the way to Doolin.

Enjoy stunning views of the Aran Islands on a guided cliff walk. Finish the day at a lively traditional music session in one of Doolin’s pubs and local restaurants

Driving Time : 4 hours 

Day 6

Travel by boat to the Aran Islands and cycle the quiet and beautiful roads of a land that time forgot. Meet the locals, cycle to the ancient stone fort Dun Aenghus and learn about Ireland’s fascinating Neolithic past. Explore the burren route to Galway city. You are free to experience the city, famed for its bustling traditional pubs, colourful cafes, the arts, street performance, and quality local food.

Driving time : 3 hrs

Day 7

Your journey continues northwards through the stunning scenery of Connemara National Park. The next stop is the mountain town of Clifden and the world famous sky road. Experience the raw beauty of Connemara National Park with a walk on one of its many trails. Visit many hidden historical and scenic gems along your journey to Westport in County Mayo.

Day 8

Challenge yourself with one final hike or cycle a section of the Western Greenway to finish on a high and make the most of the amazing Clew bay views with over one hundred islands and spectacular mountains. Relax on the road back to Dublin and the end to an unforgettable adventure.

It’s your small group adventure tour of Ireland so we don’t include every adventure activity cost in the price of the tour. We believe guests should have the freedom to pick and choose which activities they take part in, weather and sea conditions can play a part in the types of activities that are suitable on the day also. However, we do include all hiking and guided walks to hidden treasures on every tour and some adventure activities suitable for any group.
